In 2005 while working on a Masters in Nutrition, I realized that not all families were eating like my family does; or at least we try to more often than not. I realized that so many kids say they don't like fruits and vegetables so they don't try them or are not offered the choice any longer at home. At home we realize you have to choose your battles and sometimes the food challenges are just easier left alone.
So, in 2007 what started as a volunteer opportunity to teach kids about my passion and the importance of nutrition and good food blossomed into The Festive Table. In 2009 I was lucky enough to continue my studies at The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts.
The Festive Table continues to offer a forum to introduce and test new recipes with real kids eating real food. 2010 saw the introduction of our dry mix products and 2013 saw the introduction of The Festive Table cooking kits that all of you have helped make possible and are now available for sale as party favors or gifts.
Michelle's three kids have worked as sous chefs for the last six years and are great fun for kids of all ages. They bring creativity, fun and brilliant ideas to the table and definitely makes each class more festive.
We host all the classes in our home, so kids are comfortable and have space to run outside when they need to get some energy out, then get back to cooking! We keep our class sizes small and customize them to meet each families needs as best we can. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.
